Soul Purpose® is an extended family southern gospel group from Grove City, Ohio. Their ministry began in 1972 under the name The Sounds of Joy and disbanded after their pianist lost her battle with cancer in 1987.
In 1995, the group felt the call to return to their ministry and began a fresh start under their current name “Soul Purpose®”. The name just seemed to fit. “Your Soul is our Purpose” as the group says.
Their songs convey the joy and excitement of knowing Jesus. “Our Lord has called us to go and tell the world the Good News. We’re just so honored to be doing our part to show others through Southern Gospel Music that Jesus Christ IS the way, the truth and the life. Our desire is to see a lost and dying world saved through the grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
They easily transition from quartet to trio to solo presentations to create a unique, yet powerful sound. They have carried the Gospel to numerous churches in Ohio and surrounding states and have performed at the Ohio District Civitan Convention, Ohio State Convention of Baptists, Northern Gospel Singing Convention, regional Kiwanis functions, and various churches and arts festivals.
Their debut recording, There Is Comin’ A Great Day was an answer to prayer and a hit with their fans. Because of its’ success, the group felt the call to record a second album, Born to Praise the Lord. After much prayer and overwhelming requests, Misty Clapsaddle, produced a solo CD entitled Count Your Blessings. Their albums incorporate those good old gospel songs as well as more current releases making a great collection of gospel music.
They are thrilled to announce that in September 2010 they will be singing in the Regional Artist Showcase at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky AND plan to record a new project in the very near future!
Soul Purpose® continues to be in demand and has shared the stage with many nationally known groups/soloists such as The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, The Dove Brothers, Down East Boys, Driven Quartet, Freedom Voice, Soul’d Out Quartet, Triumphant Quartet, Ann Downing, and Buddy Lyles. The group looks forward to upcoming appearances with: HisSong closing out the 2010 Evening of Southern Gospel Music series.
